VOUS Kids: Shaping the Next Generation

We don't just create spaces where kids are taken care of. We create spaces where they're prayed over, ministered to, and encounter Jesus.

VOUS Kids Team

Formation matters at every stage of a child's development. At VOUS Kids, we believe discipleship begins the moment a child is born. Week to week, through worship, interactive lessons, and biblical teaching, we're building on that belief in real time.

There's no junior Holy Spirit. There's one God, and He's the same God children can and do encounter week after week. In 2026, as a church, we have come around the vision for the year: Legacy Work, building for the next generation. We believe that legacy is being built now.

What Is VOUS Kids?

VOUS Kids is the children's ministry of VOUS Church, for kids ranging from 6 months through 5th grade. The mission of VOUS Kids is simple: develop leaders who are passionately in love with Jesus. One of our biggest reminders is “It’s not babysitting. It’s leadership development.” Every Sunday, future world-changers get to experience worship, biblical teaching, prayer, and moments to respond to Jesus.

Just as VOUS Church is guided by core values that shape our culture, VOUS Kids is built around five values that help children grow in their faith week after week. These values guide our leaders, shape every Sunday experience, and give children practical ways to live out their faith each day. For a deeper look at each value, read our previous article: 5 Values We Teach VOUS Kids

Listening Ears: I will listen twice as much as I speak.

As we learn to disciple students, we want them to grow in biblical truth. James 1:19 is a key reflection of the power of listening and being prudent in speech.

Kind Mouth: I will use kind words to honor others and speak life.

Rooted in Ephesians 4:29, this value teaches children that their words have the power to encourage and build others up.

Helping Hands: I will use my hands for helping and sharing.

The hands, being another useful part of the body, can be used for good to be generous in helping others.

Humble Heart: I will think of others before myself.

We encourage children to develop a heart that reflects the humility of Jesus, choosing others before themselves.

Positive Attitude: I will always choose joy.

Inspired by Romans 15:13, this value reminds the children that joy is found through trusting God, regardless of circumstances.

A Sunday In VOUS Kids

Every part of a Sunday is intentionally designed to create a safe, engaging, and spiritually formative experience for kids and their families. From arrival to pick-up, each step plays a role in building trust and making room for real encounters with God.

Check-In & First Impressions
It starts with our All Stars team, the first point of connection for families, many of whom are parents themselves. Having parents serve parents creates immediate trust and helps make the transition into VOUS Kids as seamless as possible. As the hospitality team of VOUS Kids, All Stars helps register new families and answer questions. First-time families get a VIP experience: welcomed, registered, and personally walked to their child's classroom.

Secure & Seamless Systems
Every child is registered through our check-in system, with a matching code for parent and child to ensure secure pickup. Leaders are trained and background-checked, and every room is staffed with at least two of them. Parent communication stays a priority throughout.

Classroom Experience
This is the heart of the Sunday experience: worship, a Bible story, hands-on activities, and space to pray and respond to Jesus. Kids aren't just observing; they're actively participating in their faith in age-appropriate ways. Every classroom is led by Servant Leaders who facilitate worship, teach the lesson, lead small group discussions, and create moments for children to pray and respond to Jesus. Team Leads provide support across classrooms, helping Servant Leaders maintain consistency and ensure every environment reflects the heart and standards of VOUS Kids. Want a closer look? Pick-Up & Parent Connection
At pick-up, Servant Leaders connect with parents and share highlights from the day. That small moment goes a long way, and it's often what gives parents confidence in their child's experience and keeps them coming back.

Designed for Every Age

While the rhythm of Sunday stays consistent, each environment is intentionally designed around a child's stage of development.

Dreamers (6 months – 24 months)
Our youngest children experience a safe, nurturing environment where leaders pray over them, play worship music, and intentionally speak life.

Heroes (2 – 4 years old)
Through worship, interactive Bible stories, and hands-on activities, preschoolers engage with foundational biblical truths in ways that match their stage of development.

Legends (5 – 11 years old)
Elementary-aged children experience worship, biblical teaching, memory verses, small groups, and opportunities to respond to Jesus in an environment designed specifically for them.

VOUS Buddies (Inclusion Ministry)
VOUS Buddies provides one-on-one support for children with specific needs, ensuring every child can participate, belong, and encounter God's love alongside their peers.

Safety, Systems & Trust

Every room has a minimum of two leaders, so there's always a second set of eyes and additional support for leaders and kids alike. And when something comes up, Servant Leaders communicate it to parents right away; that way there are no gaps and no surprises. That's what builds trust between us and the families we serve.  Behind every Sunday is a team of Servant Leaders working together to create an environment that is both safe and spiritually intentional.

Building What Outlasts Us

VOUS Kids isn't a program; it's a generation we're investing in and doing our best to steward well. Every check-in, every playbook, every leader who shows up on a Sunday is part of something bigger: raising kids who know God for themselves and are learning to carry the light of Jesus into every conversation and place they step into.

We don't have it all figured out, but we've learned that when you take formation seriously at every age and stage, kids don't just attend church; they encounter Jesus in it. And that's the legacy and culture we want to continue cultivating.
